Late But on Time

 I really didn't plan on posting this late, honest. 😉 I guess I got sidetracked with the brutality of filing my taxes, FINALLY. Now that it's out of the way, I can get back to the regular things. Last week, I went to two events - Alonzo Bodden at The Den Thursday and a regular poetry circle Saturday. I haven't seen a comedy show since I saw George Lopez at the Chicago Theatre. The Den is a much smaller venue, similar to Evanston Space but a little bigger. There's something about smaller venues that I love, maybe it's the intimacy of them. At the circle, I've been there before but last year. Now the time slot is later; 2pm to 4pm instead of Noon to 2pm. I don't mind, it makes no difference to me. As of lately, I'm really liking workshops more because they help me produce work I'd never think of if I were in the house. Open Mics give me ideas, but the workshops help me implement them before going home. We were handed a poem and told to recall a prior time we felt helpless and how we dealt with it. My reply was to write it but in different stanzas. Everyone seem to like it, to my astonishment. 😃

Retraction of Prior Title

  I literally looked up and it's been more than a month since my last post, to which the only thing I have to say is.... That was not, nor has it ever been my intention to leave that much of  a gap in this new (or semi-new) endeavor. But I've said all of that to say I no longer hate planks, yet I don't love them either. You see, several things have happened since my last post. Last week, for the first time I was able to get up off the floor by myself! It may not seem like a big deal, but for someone like me; who usually avoided the floor at all costs and considered getting up off the floor with massive amounts of dread, it's EVERYTHING. *************** Attended an online open mic I haven't been to in a while. I Don't Mind Working Out, But I Hate Planks

  Yes, I said it. I hate all kinds of planks - Basic, Side, Full, Spiderman. I almost didn't go workout yesterday because of the dread I had of doing them. TRYING to do them, because I can't. So, I went but the first thing I said was that I'm not doing anything floor related. Wednesday filled me with frustration as I spent most of floor exercise time laying on the floor because the only thing I could do was the pelvic thrusts. This? No. Nah, not this either. I could only do this, but with my stomach touching the floor - But these, FORGET it! And even though I shouldn't be annoyed that I was the only one that couldn't do them, I was. I know everyone's fitness levels are different as I had to keep reminding myself that Rome wasn't built in a day. But part of me began to think about how I'm in my third month of working out consistently but I have nothing so show for it.
